| Sport Wagon Daily Your One-Click Resource for Daily Sport Wagon and Hot Hatch News Sport Wagon Search Emirati CTS-V Racewagon
A few months ago we brought you a photoshopped SCCA CTS-V Wagon from Hipps design, and today we’re got fantastic news that a similar Racewagon is currently in the works. While this rendering (and the others after the jump) are not real, Lap 57’s Emeriti race driver Omran Al Owais and his brother are in the process of creating one. Omran sadly points out that wagons are currently far from cool in Dubai, but wants to change that in a dramatic way. What better than a race-ready 600 horsepower grocery-better? Omran and his brother have both imported the new CTS-V wagon and hope “this fetish [will] catch on with other Emirtis…so that we start seeing some serious girls on the road such as the RS6/ E63 or the new exciting M5 Wagon.” Oh and did we mention they plan on making a 2,500 mile road trip from Dubai to the famed Nurburgring with both of their supercharged Tourers once they’ve built this monster? Win.

V8-powered MG ZT-260 Estate For Sale in Florida
For those of you (Yanks) who don’t know about the MG ZT, it’s time to listen up, because one is for sale in the U.S! Vero Beach, Florida dealer “Wire Wheel Classic Sports Cars” has just listed a 2004 MG ZT-260 Estate…the only one in the country. In one sentence, why you should care about this car: Ford Mustang V8-powered, 5-speed manual, rear-wheel drive, imported British Wagon. A highly tuned version of the ZT-T currently holds the record for the fastest non-production wagon, hitting 225 miles per hour at the Bonneville Salt Flats. And the story gets better. The MG ZT was based on the Rover 75 executive car, but two important names helped to convert it to a true performance estate. The designer of the McLaren F1, Peter Stevens, was the driving force behind the ZT and ZT-T (wagon), and his expertise is apparent. Secondly, the famed British Motorsport experts Prodrive converted the Rover platform to rear wheel drive and helped to improve driving dynamics. The result was a genuine “Q-Ship.”.. Our friends over at CarScoop have gotten a hold of some excellent spy photos of the upcoming B8 RS4 Avant. Let’s dispense with our bias up front: the Audi RS4 is one of our favorite sport wagons and has a storied history (B5, B7) as one of the world’s fastest haulers. Fortunately Audi has decided not to skip the B8 RS4 (like they did the B6 RS4), and will be giving enthusiasts another insane wagon to drool over. Carscoop’s photos show a heavily modified S4 Avant mule running the Nurburgring at a blistering pace. The mule has the same 20-inch alloys as Audi’s new RS5 coupe, wider front and rear wheel arches to accommodate the thicker, and a more aggressive fascia to assist with engine cooling. Under the bonnet is likely the same 4.2L V8 as the RS5, producing a formidable 450 horsepower. In an era where everyone seems to be embracing twin-turbochargers as the answer for efficiency concerns (F11 M5 Touring, W212 BiTurbo E63 AMG, C7 RS6 Avant, F31 M3 Touring), the B8 RS4 may well be the last high revving (8,300 redline!) naturally-aspirated V8 to find its way into a performance wagon... Custom-Built Mercedes 560 SEL Kombi
While automakers have historically built small and mid-size sport wagons, full size wagons (or “Battlewagons”) are quite rare. Sure BMW built a few 7-series wagons and the Sultan of Brunei had a several V12-powered S-Class wagons made, but there’s not a big market for super-luxe wagons. For those who want such a creation, a custom solution is required. Enter the Mercedes-Benz 560 SEL Kombi. Converted only recently from a 1990 560 SEL, this Battlewagon offers unparalleled luxury and practicality. Many elements of the car’s new rear appear to come from an E-Class estate, which are quite common in the owner’s native Germany. Power comes from a Mercedes 5.6L M117 single overhead cam V8 engine producing 295 horsepower and a more important 335 lb-ft of torque. This kombi drives the rear-wheels through a 4-speed automatic..
M3 Wagon Rumored and Rendered, Again
Once again, the inter-webs are swirling over the idea that BMW may build an M3 Touring. The rumors have only intensified since BMW revealed its E46 M3 Prototype hidden away in M-Division’s basement (somewhere near their E39 M5 Touring). While it seems unlikely that the Bavarian automaker would reveal an E91 (current generation) M3 Touring, a limited run of 100 would be more feasible (like the low volume M3 CRT sedan and M3 GTS coupe). If produced the rare E91 M3 Touring would feature a 420 horsepower 4.0L V8, rear-wheel drive, a limited-slip differential, and the option of a 6-speed manual or 7-speed DCT transmission. Exotic features such as a carbon fiber touring roof might even be on the table... Full Story

Rebirth of an American Legend: Magnum SRT8 Coming Soon
Ralph Gilles, Chrysler’s SRT Director, recently revealed in an interview with The New York Times that the much-loved Dodge Magnum is far from dead. “With the Magnum, we owned the station wagon segment….A lot of people still like that vehicle- a lot,” Gilles said. Dodge’s Magnum was indeed a very popular choice and dominated the American market for domestic station wagon, and may well do so again. With Cadillac’s CTS Wagon and Buick’s forthcoming Regal Wagon, the market will have much more competition, but wagon enthusiasts only stand to gain from the choices.
The last generation Magnum was best represented by the 425 horsepower 6.1L V8 HEMI-powered SRT-8 model... Full Story July 17th, 2011 (Source: The New York Times)

Audi S6 Avant (C7) Spied
With Audi’s recent unveiling of their 2012 A6 Avant, we knew the S6 wasn’t far behind. Spy photographers have captured Audi’s next uber-wagon testing in Germany and it looks the part. The S6 is expected to come with Ingolstadt’s brand new twin-turbo 4.0L V8 producing between 435 and 450 horses. As always, power is sent to all four wheels via a Quattro all-wheel drive system. We anticipate the S6 to come with Audi’s 8-speed automatic offered in their A6 3.0T Avant, but may also offer a 7-speed if the 8-speed isn’t up to the task of controlling the enormous torque load. Like the past two generations of S6 Avants, buyers should not expect a manual transmission. The S6 will target the BMW 550iT, Mercedes E550 Wagon, and Jaguar XF supercharged Sport Break...
