The BMW E34 M5 Touring is perhaps the most illustrious and venerable sport wagon on Earth. The M5 Touring offered a S38 six-cylinder engine derived from the original M5’s 3.5L racing motor, and offered nearly 350 horsepower (an incredible number for 1992). The E34 was the first BMW M Wagon and also the last hand-built M model. With its 3.8L straight six, the M5 Touring had the largest displacement six-cylinder engine BMW made in the modern era. BMW only offered the M5 Touring in manual and rear-wheel drive, making it a proper performance car in its own right. All of these factors make the E34 M5 Touring a cult car- sought after worldwide for its performance, exclusivity, and “godfather” status among BMW Touring enthusiasts.
