F11 M5 Touring Rendered, Again

With the recent unveiling of BMW’s newest M5 sedan, internet artists have again rendered the forthcoming estate variant. Updating previous renderings, namely Jonisbal’s, Bimmerboost and Wild Speed created these images and we’d guess they’re remarkably similar to what the production M5 touring will look like.

The new M5 Touring is a whole new beast from the original E34 M5 of the early 1990s. The F11 M5 will pack a 4.4L twin-turbo V8, providing 560 horsepower @ 6,000- 7,000 rpms. The biggest increase over the outgoing E61 M5 Touring is in the torque department; the new model boasts 502 lb-ft from just 1,500 rpm (vs. 383 lb-ft at 6,100 for the old V10). Expect the touring to sprint to sixty in 4.5 seconds (vs 4.7 for the E61) and reach a limited top speed of 155 (190+ de-governed). A welcome change is also the M5’s transmission: a 7-speed DCT variant replaces the old SMG III unit. Similar to the DCT transmission in the new M3, the transmission is exceptionally fast and responsive. Odds are that BMW will not offer a manual, as the last-generation only received one due to balking from U.S. customers, and the F11 M5 Touring will not be sold in the United States.
