E91 M3 Wagon Rumored and Rendered, Again

Once again, the inter-webs are swirling over the idea that BMW may build an M3 Touring. The rumors have only intensified since BMW revealed its E46 M3 Prototype hidden away in M-Division’s basement (somewhere near their E39 M5 Touring). While it seems unlikely that the Bavarian automaker would reveal an E91 (current generation) M3 Touring, a limited run of 100 would be feasible (like the low volume M3 CRT sedan and M3 GTS coupe). If produced the rare E91 M3 Touring would feature a 420 horsepower 4.0L V8, rear-wheel drive, a limited-slip differential, and the option of a 6-speed manual or 7-speed DCT transmission. Exotic features such as a carbon fiber touring roof might even be on the table.

Most likely though, BMW would target Audi’s next generation RS4 Avant and Mercedes’ C63 AMG Wagon with a next generation M3- the F31 wagon. Details remain very scare on the new wagon, much less its highest performing iteration, but the idea is very enticing. Enthusiasts should expect a 6-cylinder engine with forced induction, probably an inline-six with two turbochargers producing around 450 horsepower. Time will tell if there is any credence in these rumors, but we can always hope and dream.
