SWGreen: Five Axis Widebody CT200h at SEMA

Each year, the SEMA show in Las Vegas attracts hundreds of tuners eager to show off their creations. In the process, a fair number of sport wagons and hot hatches receive a lot of love and attention. This past October, Lexus’s new hybrid hatchback received a makeover by Japanese tuner Five Axis—and the results are stunning.

In order to create an aggressive—yet stylish and refined—hybrid hatchback, Five Axis fitted the Lexus CT200h with a widebody conversion and a custom “Dark Passage” paint job. TEIN coilover suspension and tasteful 19-inch “Custom FIVE:AD” forged wheels give the hybrid a decidedly non-pedestrian stance. Additionally, a Stop Tech big brake kit with cross-drilled rotors and four-piston calipers ensures this hatchback can stop on a dime—even if speed isn’t the CT’s forte. Five Axis has retained the stock drivetrain, which means the same underwhelming but efficient 134 horsepower hybrid system.

Inside, enthusiasts will find a custom orange suede interior. To compliment the CT200h’s eco-friendly driving dynamics (Lexus boasts the CT200h is its “most efficient luxury hybrid”) Five Axis has chosen “Ultrasuede Ecodesign” for the interior. Made with 100% recycled polyester, Ultrasuede offers a “rich texture” that is produced with 80% less C02 emissions than competing fabrics. With its sporty dynamics and eco-friendly design, this aftermarket Lexus offers an excellent blueprint for aspiring tuners.
