V8-powered MG ZT-260 Estate For Sale in Florida

For those of you (Yanks) who don’t know about the MG ZT, it’s time to listen up, because one is for sale in the U.S! Vero Beach, Florida dealer “Wire Wheel Classic Sports Cars” has just listed a 2004 MG ZT-260 Estate…the only one in the country. In one sentence, why you should care about this car: Ford Mustang V8-powered, 5-speed manual, rear-wheel drive, imported British Wagon. A highly tuned version of the ZT-T currently holds the record for the fastest non-production wagon, hitting 225 miles per hour at the Bonneville Salt Flats. And the story gets better. The MG ZT was based on the Rover 75 executive car, but two important names helped to convert it to a true performance estate. The designer of the McLaren F1, Peter Stevens, was the driving force behind the ZT and ZT-T (wagon), and his expertise is apparent. Secondly, the famed British Motorsport experts Prodrive converted the Rover platform to rear wheel drive and helped to improve driving dynamics. The result was a genuine “Q-Ship.” Launched in 2003, the 260 Estate was the fastest production ZT model, offering a 260 horsepower 4.6L V8 with 300 lb-ft of torque. 0-60 takes just 6.3 seconds for the ZT-T, and the estate tops out at 155 mph. The 260 model is differentiated by an aggressive front valence and a quad exhaust.
This specific example being sold by Wire Wheel is a 2004 model, painted Blue Green Metallic, with only 28,000 miles on the odometer. Best of all, it’s a former MG Press Car that was owned by the President of MG. One last kicker for this beauty: you best known how to swap cogs with your left. That’s right, to the delight of all real anglophiles, this ZT is right hand drive. And for just $19,000 (price reduced!), we think this transplanted Brit is a downright investment in the wagon-scarce ‘States.
